The joy of Garbage

The article was something different. People could actually relate because they know what they do with their trash. Trash comes from so many things. The most thing i liked about this articles was the video that they had. I liked how they helped us imagine what is going on in real life. It makes me worry about the next generations because they would keep throwing away stuff and they dont know how much it hurts them. What surprised was how much waste is produced in one day. Each person throws so many things that would fill a landfill during their lifetime. This article relates the book a lot and that helped me think more about the book and how trash can be reduced.

Garbology chapter 3

Televsion has a horrible affect on everything. It makes the obesity rates higher and it causes the most important problem; more trash. This chapter points out the needs and want sin a person life. TV has a big impact on why people keep buying things and throwing them away. The commercials and tv shows make people want to buy things that they dont need. For example, commercials shows how some grocery stores have coupons or sales, what people do is that they'd go the that specific store and buy everything that is on sale. They go back home and maybe no one would eat what has been bought they will take it and throw it away which makes more trash. People lose money for trash. They take everything and throw it away. If people start to control themselves and not buy everything they want just to throw it away there would be less trash and less landfills. People should also recycle to help the environment and give the workers at the landfills less work to do.

Interview with Humes

The interview with Eduard Humes made me know the statistics between the universities and what each university has different statistics. The difference between Columbia University and EPA shows how some people underestimates the amount of garbage that people throw away everyday. I liked how Humes searched deeply to find the actual statistics to write his books and deliver a massage to people and make a better environment. Every person's waste everyday makes up about a full landfill. I would have never imagined that such a problem could possibly hurt people and the environment. The interview made me realize that we should throw away less things and contribute to keep the environment clean.

Garbology chapter 2

In chapter 2, Humes talks about New York and how it was all trashy. Then after a while, people contributed to make it clean. Maybe making pigs eat the trash would actually help more than only using trucks or burning the trash. When pigs eat it it goes int their stomach and they wont take up so much space. It won't be deadly as well because there wont be a lot of gas use. I never thought that working in such a place can kill people. However, bacteria and insects that carry diseases from trash can be deadly too. People should put this into realization and make less trash and contribute more to the environment.

Garboogy chapter 1

I have always known that garbage has a lot of contribution in a person's life. It harms many people. Trash keeps going into landfills which makes it bigger and bigger day by day. Even though trash gets burned, recycled, used for many new stuff, that doesnt mean trash does not overflow. The overflowing of trash hurts the environment and takes up space. For example, if there was less trash there would be less landfills. People can build schools or houses or anything that is more important than those landfills. If they decrease the amount of trash there will be so much better use of the spaces that those landfills take. I have never thought that there would be so many landfills. People should start realizing that they are hurting the environment without knowing. They should throw away less trash and make more contribution to the environment.
